What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, a compound found in hemp and cannabis plants. As opposed to THC (see below), CBD has no psychoactive properties. For this reason, CBD is classified as a food supplement and not as a medicine.

What is THC?

THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, a controlled psychoactive substance that’s regulated as a medicine. CBD and THC are regularly confused as both are forms of cannabinoids that are extracted from hemp and cannabis plants. Although the media often reports on CBD and THC as if they are the same thing, CBD has no psychoactive properties – it’s a food supplement that’s regulated under food legislation.

What is the difference between hemp and cannabis?

Hemp and cannabis both come from different parts of the Cannabis Sativa plant species. While there are similarities between the two, when it comes to CBD oil the main difference is that hemp is naturally high in CBD and low in THC. The opposite is true for cannabis. As CBD oil made from hemp (like Sea CBD) contains only trace amounts of THC (under 0.2%), it is sold in many countries around the world as a food supplement.  Hemp has many uses – it has been used for generations as an extremely nutritious ingredient in a variety of food and drinks. It is also one of the oldest and most sustainable crops grown globally.

What makes Sea CBD different?

We set up Sea CBD with the purpose of helping others enhance their overall wellbeing and quality of life with natural food supplements as we ourselves have done. We are passionate about sourcing the purest hemp-extracted CBD oil that we, as well as our friends and family, would happily take. For these reasons, Sea CBD is made in a Swiss laboratory using 100% certified organic European hemp and undergoes rigorous quality control testing. We also donate a percentage of our profits to supporting a selection of charities we care deeply about.

How should I take Sea CBD?

For best results, Sea CBD should be taken under the tongue so that the CBD enters the bloodstream quickly and directly. Using the dropper provided, place 1 - 4 drops under the tongue and hold for 3 - 5 seconds (longer if possible). The number of drops taken depends on why you are taking Sea CBD and whether you are using our 2.5%, 4% or 10% product (more info below, on our online shop page and product packaging). Sea CBD can also be added to food or drinks.

What’s the best time of day to take Sea CBD?

The best time of day to take Sea CBD varies from person-to-person as it depends on why you’re taking it. We recommend researching why you are adding Sea CBD to your diet in order to identify the time of day that makes most sense for your needs.

Could Sea CBD cause an allergic reaction?

It’s possible for any food supplement to cause an allergic reaction. If you’re taking any form of medication, we advise you speak to your medical practitioner before taking Sea CBD.

How is Sea CBD made?

Sea CBD is made using 100% organic hemp that’s extracted directly from the plant and not from crystals or cannabidiol isolates. No pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, chemical fertilisers, genetically modified products, additives or growth hormones are used in the process. Our CBD oil is developed in a Swiss laboratory using CO₂ extraction to remove any potentially harmful substances and guarantee the highest-quality oil. Sea CBD is also decarboxylated to increase the bioavailability of the oil so that the body can absorb it more quickly. The lab blends it with olive oil for a smoother flavour and then purifies the oil to remove fats, chlorophyll and chemicals. Finally, the oil is filtered and enriched with terpenes to enhance the beneficial effects of CBD. These processes also give Sea CBD a better taste and smell compared with unfiltered oils that tend to be darker in colour and lower in quality.

Why are there no benefits of CBD listed on your website?

Sea CBD is a food supplement and not a medicine. For this reason, and to comply with UK & EU legislation, Sea CBD does not communicate any medical benefits or make any health or medical claims for CBD oil.
