What are the benefits of CBD oil?

CBD oil is quickly becoming a popular alternative to traditional forms of medicine. At Sea CBD, we’ve been using it as a food supplement for several years now and have experienced vast improvements with our overall energy levels and wellbeing. We came across CBD oil while exploring alternative remedies as a way of improving our quality of life and set up Sea CBD to share the numerous benefits of CBD we discovered.

CBD is one of about 200 compounds present in hemp and cannabis plants that people are increasingly drawn to as an all-natural alternative remedy or nourishing food supplement. Interest in CBD as a way of managing numerous health issues has grown and scientists around the world are currently studying the potential CBD offers. As of August 2019, almost 400 clinical trials are investigating CBD for treating a range of health-related conditions. Pharmaceutical companies like GW Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Sanofi alone are running 78 registered clinical trials with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration - a federal US agency). Below you’ll find a few areas of research that show CBD can offer a wide range of health benefits.

When taken regularly, CBD has been proven to have an impact on our endocannabinoid system, which includes the brain, nervous system and immune cells. Through encouraging body and mind to work together in equilibrium, CBD helps us achieve a state known as homeostasis.

Taken as a food supplement, CBD has been shown to help health concerns like the following.

Anxiety

Anxiety diagnoses are on the rise and numerous studies are looking at how CBD can help when it comes to anxiety treatment. A successful study in Brazil has opened the door for more research into the possible benefits of CBD for anxiety.

The study asked 57 men to take a dose of CBD oil 90 minutes before taking a simulated public speaking test. To increase the accuracy of the test, the men were given varying levels of CBD, ranging from a placebo dose to 150mg, 300mg, and 600mg. Researchers discovered that those on the 300mg dose had significantly reduced anxiety during the test.

Anti-inflammatory

A study in The Journal of Clinical Investigation tested CBD oil as a treatment for acne. Researchers found it ‘exerts sebostatic and anti-inflammatory effects on human sebocytes’, meaning CBD oil can reduce the severity of acne.

As a pharmaceutical product

Epidiolex® is one of the few CBD treatments currently approved for prescription by medical practitioners across the world. Derived from CBD, the medication has been approved by several medical bodies including the FDA. Epidiolex® is used to treat seizures caused by two rare forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.

Both syndromes usually appear in early childhood and when treated with Epidiolex® the number of seizures experienced reduces. The launch of the drug was a watershed moment for CBD derived medicines and supplements that has opened the door to treatment and testing for other conditions.

These are just a few of the benefits people report as having experienced when taking CBD regularly. We’re hopeful that the many studies currently being carried out will lead to CBD being used to treat a wide range of health concerns worldwide. At Sea CBD, we’re excited that this daily food supplement that has hugely improved our quality of life is growing in popularity and reputation as a way of improving wellbeing.
